15 Oval trained skaters vying for spots in Canadian Selections
Montreal, QC - A large group of 120 of Canada's fastest short track skaters will descend upon Montreal’s Maurice Richard arena this weekend for the 2019 Canadian Open National Qualifier. The field of 60 men and 60 women will look to qualify for the 2019 Canadian Selections to be held in Calgary March 8-10.
A contingent of 13 full time (and 2 part time) Oval program skaters will represent the black and red in Quebec including:
On the Women's side; Marika Nadal (AB), Sherilyn Chung (BC), Caitlyn Pelkey (AB), Maggie Beynon (ON), Cezara Bere (AB) and Geneve Belanger (QC) who spent the first half of the season training as part of the Oval Program.
On the Men's side; Brendan Yamada (AB), Marco Schumann (SK), Vincent Girard (QC), Roger Fulton (NB), Keanan St.Rose (BC), Ethan McKinley-Young (ON), Mitchell Schrum (ON), Sebastien Champagne (QC) and Neithan Thomas (AB) who is a part time Oval program skater.
