Calgary, AB, February 14, 2014 - Calgary's Olympic Oval is pleased to once again host Intact Insurance Family Fun Day, in celebration of the provincial Family Day holiday. This multi-faceted event runs from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, February 17, and features FREE public skating (with a non-perishable food donation), along with family-friendly activities including bounce houses, face-painting, arts and crafts, as well as speed skating and precision skating demonstrations.

Olympic Oval athletes will be on handing selling Papa John's Pizza, with 100% of the proceeds from the sales going towards Oval High Performance Programs. A silent auction will be one of the highlights of the day, with fantastic items up for bid, including: Flames tickets, Lady Antebellum tickets and hotel packages from Hotel Alma. In addition, The RE/MAX Autograph Area will feature two-time Olympic Speed Skating Gold Medalist, Catriona Le May Doan and Calgary Stampeders' Alvin Bowen, Keenan MacDougall and Corey Mace. Ralph the Dog, Rex the Dinosaur and Ollie the Penguin will also be on hand for the day.

All funds raised from the silent auction also go to support Oval High Performance Programs.

HELMETS RULE! It is mandatory that all skaters wear an accepted helmet (CSA

approved) during public skating sessions. This policy is implemented as a proactive safety measure to help protect skaters and ensure all users of the Olympic Oval enjoy their time skating. Bring or borrow (while supplies last)! Skaters who do not have their own helmet can borrow one from the Olympic Oval Skate Shop at no charge on a first come first served basis.

Bring your own helmet (to avoid running out). Please note that any CSA (Canadian Standards Association) approved helmet (hockey, cycling, skiing, skating etc.) is acceptable.

Protect your brain, skate smart!
