CALGARY, AB – The action continued on Day 2 of the 24th Masters Allround Games Saturday at the Calgary Olympic Oval.  Day 2 saw another 6 International Masters Speed Skating Committee (IMSSC) records fall bringing the two day total to 15.

Competition has been fierce - the 70-74 category saw a new World Record time twice in today’s competition. Jan van der Meulen posted a WR time of 2:15.61 only to have it broken by Finland’s Pentti Kiiskinen just minutes later.  Vladimir Kostin and Arne Foldvik continue to add to their world record tallies for the weekend.  Foldvik, a Norwegian, leads the way with a new world record established in all three of his races so far.

“The indication from the athletes so far is that the ice has been fast this weekend” said event Co-Chair Gregg Plannert “This can be due to many factors like changes in the weather, a drop in air pressure and of course the great work our ice technicians put into producing optimal conditions these competitions.”

Due to a miscalculation, two World Records from Day 1 were not confirmed until the end of today’s competition.  See the chart below for the changes highlighted in BOLD.
