Safety padding systems
When skaters are at the Olympic Oval they are training at the safest facility in the World. The boardless short track system was developed in Calgary, and is now the benchmark safety standard for short track venues around the world. On-going testing is implemented into our system as we continue to lead the world in the development and innovation of this boardless system. Having access to this system for both training and competition reduces the risk of injury, and increases the number of training days - maximizing the rate of improvement.
The Olympic Oval Program has an extensive video technology system for analysis of short track technique and tactical skills. This includes the use of multiple video camera angles, which are sent wirelessly to on-ice coaches for immediate analysis and feedback using iPad technology. Captured video is also used for more in-depth analysis using Dartfish, and then stored and shared using our two NAS video servers for archiving and accessing all video either onsite or from remote locations.
We also have a large screen projector system for watching video as a training group in a classroom setting.
