Jonathan Guilmette joining the Calgary Olympic Oval
Olympic medalist to take on new role as Manager, High Performance Short Track Program
CALGARY, AB – The Olympic Oval is very proud to announce the hiring of Jonathan Guilmette as the new Manager, High Performance Short Track Program for the Calgary Olympic Oval. His high interest and passion for sport and coaching will be a very positive addition for the Oval and the Faculty of Kinesiology.
Guilmette, from Montreal University, carries over 15 years of experience as a high performance athlete and 10 years as a coach at the regional, national and international levels. A three time Olympic medalist in short track his experience will be a valued asset in the support of the Oval skaters, coaching team and Integrated Support Team.
A certified coach from Canadian advance coaching, Guilmette led the Japanese National Team over the last four years and at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Games. Here he had the opportunity to develop and maintain strong relationships with the International Skating Union as well as network with coaches and leaders from all over the world.
Guilmette will take over a role recently vacated by Olympic medalist Eric Bedard, who is pursuing into new opportunities in Eastern Canada.
“This is a new opportunity for Jonathan at this point in his sport career to take on and we are very excited to see him bring his wealth of short track knowledge and experience to our organization” said Oval Director Yves Hamelin adding “His expertise from his previous roles make him an amazing asset for all of us at the Olympic Oval.”

Guilmette is expected to join the Olympic Oval leadership team starting April 9th. His knowledge is expected to help the Oval in the pursuit of excellence and enhance the venue and programs national and international reputation in the speed skating world, well maintaining the Olympic Legacy mandate for the university and it’s vibrant community.
