Nick's and the Olympic Oval

Partnership with Nick's Steakhouse and Pizza will focus on four key areas of promotion to help drive sales and revenue.

Community & Neighbourhood

For 35 years, Nick’s and the Olympic Oval have shared a common goal in bringing Calgarians together to celebrate family, community and sport.

Social Media

The Olympic Oval has thriving Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts. Scheduled campaigns will promote Nick’s brand through photo, video and brand posts and reels.

Recreational Skating

Thousands of Calgarians attend public skating at the Olympic Oval every month. We have the opportunity to put Nick’s Steakhouse top of mind and literally into the hands of visitors through campaigns that target impulse purchases and the use of Nick’s delivery/take-out services.

Community & Neighborhood

With thousands of university students, young athletes and families enjoying programs at the Oval every year, and Nick’s Steakhouse serving the best pizza in the northwest, the partnership just makes sense!

The Oval will host a party featuring Nick’s pizza for Oval Pathway and Speed Skating Canada athletes as part of our Road to Beijing Olympic celebration. Opportunity for social content photos.

Engaging the Oval’s connection with UCalgary student residences, we present Skate and a Slice Dorm Parties. By reservation, the Oval provides free skating and a free party room; Nick’s offers a pizza deal with delivery. Uptake can be expected as each residence manager is responsible for organizing a monthly floor activity.

The Faculty of Kinesiology is the perfect partnership for Nick's— with access to over 33,000 students and 191,000 Alumni and thousands of non-UCalgary spectators, guests and visitors.

Recreational Public Skating

The Oval offers over 20 scheduled hours of public skating every week and an average of 5,000 public skating guests per month and statistics indicate that 75% of consumers eat pizza once a month. Our goal is, then, to make sure that Nick’s Pizza is getting its market share!

Celebrate the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics with a pizza designed by Oval Pathway athletes. The Oval front desk will distribute vouchers for a Nick’s Pizza Special at our recreational public skates from February 5 through March 13 – the duration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Athlete pizza’s purchased at full price will get a Free Recreational Skate Pass for the Oval (expiry March 27)

Wednesday, February 9 is National Pizza Day – a day to celebrate a beloved dish! Enjoy a skate and a slice. Public skating runs from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Select entrants will get a wrist band for a free slice on their way out at 9:30 p.m.

Every year over 400,000 people visit the Olympic Oval making us one of the busiest buildings in the city.

Social Media & Digital Opportunities

The Olympic Oval has extensive reach into Nick’s target demographics – families, pizza-loving university students athletes and sport fans. Our social media connections can bring value to Nick’s through online brand promotion.

A series of eight original reels profiling our partnership with Nick’s will be created and shared through Instagram.
 

The Olympic Oval can reshare Nick’s content through our channels as appropriate to put Nick’s messaging directly in front of a large audience for increased attention. We can also tag @nickssteakhouse in Oval content.

Nick’s Steakhouse has the opportunity to share their digital brand collateral using our jumbo screens. These screens are used for partners and sponsors and messaging throughout the season during recreational public skating and running times.
