Short Track Stage 3/4 Athletes
The 2021/2022 season features 16 ATHLETES in the Stage 3 program. Stage 3 is coached by Maggie Qi.

Samuel Green
Samuel Green is from Mission, British Colombia and is in his third year with the Olympic Oval Elite Pathway program. Cristina Lazarescu coaches him in the short track stage 3 group. Green placed fourth in the 500 metres in the second round of the fast track Olympic Trials for the 2022 winter Olympics and first place in the 1,500 metre Junior World Trials! Aside from racing the world, he loves to play soccer in his free time!

Neithan Thomas
Neithan Thomas is in his third year with the Olympic Oval Elite Pathway program. He is in the short track stage 3 group being coached by Cristina Lazarescu. Thomas is from Edmonton, and his most exciting time skating was when he placed fourth in the 1,500 metres at the Canadian Junior Championships. Thomas preferred distances are 1,000 and 1,500 metres. Outside of speed skating Thomas enjoys playing baseball.

Victoria Goplen
Victoria Goplen is from Edmonton and is in her second year with the Olympic Oval Elite Pathway program. In the long track stage 2 group, she is coached by Cristina Lazarescu. Goplen recently competed in the Short Track Olympic Trials for the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Beijing! Her favourite distances are 1,500 and 3,000 metres. Outside of speed skating, Goplen loves to play soccer.

Alex Giannotti
Alex Giannotti has been with the Olympic Oval’s Elite Pathway program for two years. He is from Oakville, Ontario, and Phil Riopel coaches in the short track stage 3 group. Giannotti’s determination got him into the Canadian Junior Short Track Championships! His favourite distance is 1,000 metres. Outside the speed skating world, Giannotti loves to watch and play Basketball.

Cezara Bere
Cezara Bere is in her fourth year with the Elite Pathway program at the Olympic Oval. Elizabeth Ward coaches her in the short track stage 3 group. Bere is trilingual by speaking Romanian, Spanish and English. Her skating career highlight was placing fourth in the 1,500 metres at Canada Winter Games. Aside from speed skating, her favourite sports are gymnastics, track and golf.

Aaralyn McGill is in her first year with the Olympic Oval Elite Pathway program, she is from Milton, Ontario. Maggie Qi and Elizabeth Ward coaches her in the short track stage 3 group. McGill’s favourite races are the 3,000 and mass start. Outside of speed skating McGill’s favourite sport is swimming.
