Olympic Oval Guidelines

All users of the Olympic Oval must follow and abide by the following guidelines. These guidelines are in place to ensure a clean and safe facility.

General Respect: All customers are expected to adhere to the University of Calgary’s Code of Conduct where people are treated with respect and dignity. Violation of this code may result in loss of access: Code of Conduct | PEOPLE AND CULTURE | University of Calgary

Valid Entry: All users must have valid access to enter the facility (e.g., Unicard, Public Day Pass, event ticket, competition registration, volunteers, program registration or booking).

3-Strike Policy: Users are permitted three entries per academic semester without their UCID Card. After that, accounts may be placed in delinquent status.

Coaching/Training: Coaching or instruction is only permitted by University of Calgary staff or those with an approved coaching agreement. Coaching is not allowed during Public Skating, recreational running, or high-performance running times.

Proper Training Attire: Athletic attire consisting of a top and bottom is required, with adequate coverage of all private areas in all spaces of the Olympic Oval. In addition, no backpacks are allowed in the weight room or weight cage. Cubby holes or day use lockers must be used for storage. Locker rooms or bathrooms must be used for changing/dressing.

• Food and Drink: Beverages are permitted in the weight room, weight cage and all track spaces provided they are in non-leaking containers, however only cold water is permitted on all ice surfaces in a non-leaking container. Food is not allowed at any time in the weight room, weight cage or on any ice surface. No popcorn or sunflower seeds are permitted anywhere in the Olympic Oval.

Pets: Pets are not permitted within the Olympic Oval. Service dogs are permitted but documentation may be requested. If a dog’s behavior is deemed disruptive or inconsistent with typical service dog behavior, the dog and owner may be asked to leave the facility.

Drugs & Alcohol: The consumption of alcohol and recreational drugs is not permitted within the Olympic Oval.

Smoking & Vaping: In accordance with the Tobacco Reduction Act, smoking and vaping are prohibited inside the Olympic Oval and within 5 metres of entrances, windows, or air intakes.
