Committed to Excellence
The Shostak Auto Group is committed to excellence in performance across its dealerships. The Olympic Oval is committed to the pursuit of excellence and health and wellness for all. As businesses that are synonymous with quality and performance, both the Oval and Shostak Auto Group demand the highest standards in guest experience and product, down to the last detail.
Winning Together
Porsche’s motto reflects the heart of the Olympic Oval. From an athlete’s first time on skates, through the Olympic podium, we are there to support, strengthen and cheer them on. Our facility delivers “The Athlete’s Journey” with comprehensive training for all levels, to a specific focus on the Oval Elite Athlete Pathway, a development program and training grounds for Canada’s National Speed Skating Teams. We work with athletes, coaches and sponsors to deliver world-class facilities and competitions. From the establishment of the Olympic Oval for the Calgary 1988 Winter Olympic Games, we have been the incubator of elite sport in Calgary. Champions Catriona Le May Doan, Haley Wickenheiser, Denny Morrison, Ted-Jan Bloeman, Ivanie Blondin and Isabelle Weidemann – to name just a few – have all honed their competitive edge here.
Sporty, Progressive and Sophisticated
Like Porsche and Audi, the Olympic Oval is all about putting ideas to work. Innovation drives the sport of speed skating forward. For example, improved efficiencies through kinetic data lead to enhanced biomechanics and faster times; new technologies in ice-making and temperature management are creating faster ice. Both our Competitions and Innovation team and our Oval ice-makers are recognized internationally as leaders in sport innovation as part of the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Kinesiology – the #1 sport science university in North America.
Believe in Your Dreams
Not unlike Ferry Porsche’s vision and desire to build a car that would be iconic for generations, the founding fathers of the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympic Games had big plans for the legacy of the games in this city. 35 years later, the Olympic Oval, a dream built on the desire to establish a means for athletes to be given ways and means to develop themselves and stay world competitive continues. In 2022, the Olympic Oval is engaging a $65M capital campaign with the intent of continuing this dream for another 25 years, keeping Calgary the center of winter sport in Canada for many years to come.
The world record for a person on speed skates was set by Sweden’s Kjeld Nuis in 2018 at 93 km/h (58 mph). The Porsche Taycan Turbo S goes from 0-62 in 2.8 seconds.
