Olympic Oval Short Track Athletes

Osa has been speed skating in Calgary for seven years. I love skating and couldn't think of another life without it! My hobbies are road biking and art. 

Catriona Le May Doan

I started speed skating in Kamloops when I was six years old. I also played soccer, rugby, basketball and many more. I have raced both short and long track, but short track has been my favourite.

Winning BC provincials and Western Canada competitions.

I started speed skating in Yellowknife at the age of six. In the summer, I race mountain bikes and during the school year I participate in school sports such as track, cross country, basketball and badminton.

I am primarily a short-track skater but compete in long-track as well. I have been speed skating for 12 years and my club is the Calgary Grizzlies speed skating club. Some things I enjoy doing outside of speed skating are listening to music, playing golf, and travelling.

I used to be an inline speed skater and started short-track speed skating in 2022. I am also studying Kinesiology at the University of Calgary.

I started speed skating at the West Island Cyclones Club in Québec at the age of 12. I Skated there for 4 years before moving to Vancouver. I then skated with the Richmond Rockets for a year before then moving on to the Oval HP program. I skated there for 2 years before I then went to Calgary this year to skate with the Stage Two Oval program.

I am a neo-senior athlete from British Columbia. I have been short-track speed skating for seven years, and this is my second year training with the Oval program.

I am a skater from BC that practices both long and short track at a high performance level, with a focus on short track. My hobbies include, cooking, eating, woodworking and playing video games.

I’ve been skating for 11 years, going into my 12th season. This is my 2nd year with the Oval and I look forward to another great season competing at the national level.

Arianna Fontana

I've been doing speed skating for 13 years, I first started skating in Prince George, BC and then moved to Calgary in 2019. I enjoy skating a lot because of how fast paced it is and traveling to different places to race.

My first career highlight was finally doing a 42 in the 500m, my second career highlight was getting a bronze medal in the relay at Canada Winter Games.

I have been skating on ice since before I could walk and haven’t stopped since. I’ve been racing for the Oval for five years and skating for 16 years.

Finished 11 overall in Canada and 9th in the 500m at 16 years of age and was the 5th alternate for the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Eden Donatelli

I have been skating for the last four seasons for the Olympic Oval. I am motivated and determined to make it to the national team in the next year or two. While also graduating in communications and media studies at UofC. Furthermore, outside of sports and school,  I run a media content-creating company called AllProJD, which keeps me busy in my life.

Andy Murray

I am in my fourth year of training with the Olympic Oval's short track team. Additionally, I am studying engineering at the University of Calgary. Aside from speed skating and studying, I love drawing, playing the sax, piano and travelling. I'm glad to be on the team and am excited to see what is in store for this year.

I have been skating for almost 10 years and started skating in Lethbridge for LSSA before joining the Oval in 2023 and I am excited to train in Calgary.

I won the Canadian Youth Long Track, got third at Canadian Youth Short Track West and got Third in the team relay at Canada Winter Games.

Kairo is a short-track speed skater from Richmond Hill, Ontario. Kairo has been skating for over eight years, transitioning from hockey after watching the Sochi Olympic games in 2014. Kairo is excited to begin training with the Olympic Oval in order to advance as far as possible in the sport.
